Steam at Sunrise

Yellowstone, WY - 09/16/2009 Fly there (requires Google Earth)

I was up very early to hike the Upper Geyser Basin before the sun rise.  From the Northern end this photo captures the steam in the early dawn light.  The smoke is steam - not from fires but from the various hot springs and geysers in the valley.  The steam from the far right is Old Faithful.

Astounding, Cal! This photo reminds me of the truly amazing natural phenomenons I'd see when I used to be up, racing the sunrise while training for marathons. Most people can't imagine what we've seen.
