The early morning light on Laurel Mountain while the stars are still out. I am not sure what the light in the west is from - Fresno is the closest town on the other side of the mountains. Look closely, and you can see meteor trails in the sky over Laurel Mountain.

We were up very early to get to Lake Dorothy in the dark so we could set up for sunrise. It was chilly as we waited for the sun. As the light touched the mountains I started snapping away. I am using a wide angle lens and have it wide open and focused on the foreground rocks so the entire frame is in focus. An additional astro surprise were meteor trails over the mountains. Laurel Mountain is just in the sunlight and soon there would be plenty of light. We stayed by the lake for more shots but this one was my favorite.
