Fishing Hole

An otter sits outside a hole in the ice covering Yellowstone River. The otters would catch a fish and come up onto the ice to eat - they were too fast for me to catch with the fish. They would then pose for a picture and then go back into the water.

In Yellowstone for winter tour we headed to the Yellowstone River looking for wildlife. We came upon a couple of otters who were slipping in and out of the river from holes in the ice. They were had to catch still enough to photograph. As with most the day the exposure was increased to take the white of the snow into account - for this picture it was a full stop.
