Cool Leopard
Paradise Bay, Antarctica - 01 Jan 2026 See on Google Maps
We were on zodiacs in Paradise Bay and were seeing plenty of wildlife. From the little boat we would pull up near large ice flows with seals - Waddell Seals and Leopard Seals. This giant Leopard Seal was disturbed when we were close. They are the apex predator in the Arctic and this one was huge. Snapping away from the boat I was lucky when he yawned.
Shooting very fast due to the boat movement meant increasing the ISO to maintain a mid range aperture. You can see that we were pretty close as the lens was only just over 200mm. One of my favourites from the trip.
